Woodland Rides – Experienced Riders Only
Our Woodland Rides are a perfect morning/ afternoon out for any experienced riders out there!
Arrive at the yard where you will have the opportunity to get to know your horse whilst you groom them and get them tacked up and ready to ride.
The first portion of the hack will include riding on a road as we make our way to the woods, all of our horses are used to road riding.
We will then join onto the “Camel Trail” to continue the ride, before eventually returning to ride back along the road to the yard.
As Woodland Rides contains portions of riding on steep roads we have a weight limit in place of 10.5 stone (approximately 67kg) to ensure we do not overload our horses.
We also request a riding assessment is completed before the day of your first hack with us. The assessment will take approximately 30 minutes and costs £25.00. This is too ensure we can match you to a suitable horse.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring appropriate riding clothes suitable to the weather at the time of your booked date. We are based near Bodmin Moor and the weather can vary or change quickly, so please be prepared. Full length non-baggy trousers should be worn.
We have a selection of riding hats available, however, we recommend bringing your own fitted hat if you own one. If bringing your own riding hat please ensure it is kitemarked approved- if you unsure if your riding hat is suitable please feel free to email to confirm.
Please ensure you have suitable footwear, shoes with a covered toe and heel (no sandals, crocs, flipflops etc) and a SMALL heel, a good example are “Chelsea Boots”.
We have plenty of drinking water available onsite, but we do recommend bringing a water bottle and snack.
Are the Woodland Rides group or private bookings?
The Woodland Rides are group experiences meaning you may be booked onto a ride with other people that you do not know. If you would like to enquire into a private Woodland Ride please contact us via the form and specify that you are interested in a “PRIVATE WOODLAND RIDE”, we can then contact you with availability/ prices.
Why do I have to have a riding assessment before I can go on a Woodland Ride?
Our horses love to go on hacking and are all very used to the Woodland Rides, however, as detailed on this website, the majority of our horses are rescue horses.
Whilst our horses are a delight to ride, they are not typical “riding school horses” and they require a rider with experience. The safety of yourself and our horses is very important too us! So we must ensure you are paired with a suitable horse.
Therefore, we request a mandatory riding assessment so that we can keep everyone safe.
Please note; you are only required to complete a riding assessment once.
Are spectators able to follow on foot?
In order for us to focus our attentions on keeping all riders and horses safe we kindly ask that riders are not accompanied by people on foot.
There will be two opportunities for spectators/friends/family to take photos at the entrance to the Camel Trail, exact location to be discussed upon booking.
